What are the Positive and Negative Aspects of a Television?

I'm doing a tech report on television. If anyone can help me, can someone tell me what the positive and negative aspects (pros and cons) of television are? Or if there's a website I could go to to find out...and if you know any website on a timeline for television, like the inventions that led up to the television and the inventions that developed as a result of the television. Thanks!
